La sentencia de Gorosito antes de la revancha de Alianza Lima y Boca: “Es un mito lo de La Bombonera, es todo biri biri, no pasa nada”

The victory of Alianza Lima over Boca in the 2nd phase of the Copa Libertadores left both teams with a sense of bitterness. The Peruvian team is aware that the margin is minimal heading into the rematch, while the Xeneize side understands that their performance in the Andean country was among the worst in Fernando Gago’s tenure.
In this context, Néstor Gorosito once again captured attention during a phone interview with Radio La Red. In an engaging conversation, Pipo emphasized the significance of the win and expressed his confidence ahead of the rematch scheduled for next Tuesday at La Bombonera. “It seems like we had no merit, that we were invisible. We have a good team and we can beat Boca,” the coach, who previously managed San Lorenzo, River Plate, and Tigre, began.
In his analysis, the manager stated that “the result was underwhelming.” “We should have won by two or three goals,” he argued, referring to the clear superiority displayed in the Peruvian capital.
Pablo Ceppelini became the hero for his team after scoring the only goal of the match, capitalizing on a rebound and scoring alone against Agustín Marchesín just four minutes into the game. The scoreline remained unchanged despite several attempts from Néstor Gorosito’s side, who failed to convert and could have increased their lead.
The missed chances from the victorious team often had Agustín Marchesín as the decisive factor, as he saved the visiting team on multiple occasions and prevented what could have been a rout.
It’s worth noting that Fernando Gago arrived with eleven absences for the first match, yet failed to create significant goal-scoring opportunities to secure a favorable result in Lima. The tie is still open, and everything will be decided on the upcoming Tuesday, February 25 at La Bombonera. Naturally, one of the main strategies Pintita will rely on is the pressure from the home crowd—a tactic that doesn’t intimidate Gorosito: “The atmosphere, and the entire idea of La Bombonera being special is just nonsense. It’s a myth. It’s just 11 against 11. It’s all just talk. No one has ever been harmed inside a stadium,” he asserted.
However, the coach did not hesitate to express his true concern about the refereeing at the Alberto J Armando. “It’s the first time I’ve seen a media operation to sway the referee. I’ve already seen headlines claiming how Boca was wronged, and that influences the game,” he emphasized.
Alianza Lima ranks ninth in the Peruvian Liga 1 after two matches played. They won one match and lost the other. Regarding the lineup for the upcoming third matchday, Pipo stated, “the best performers will play on Friday.” “It was evident that the other day – the slip against Alianza Atlético – was not a physical issue; fatigue should have been greater today, but it wasn’t. Motivation sometimes overcomes fatigue,” he detailed.
The rematch will take place next Tuesday at La Bombonera, and the advancing team will face the winner of the series between Deportes Iquique of Chile and Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia (the Chilean team won 2-1 in the first leg).
Before that, Boca will have another domestic commitment. In the seventh round of the Apertura Tournament, the Xeneize will clash with Aldosivi at La Bombonera this Saturday at 19:30. Gago’s side currently sits sixth in Zone A with 11 points, four behind the leaders, Estudiantes de La Plata.
