Así va la selección Colombia en la tabla de posiciones del Sudamericano Femenino Sub-20: esto necesita la Tricolor para avanzar de ronda

The Colombian women’s U-20 team secured its first victory in the South American Championship, defeating Venezuela 1-0 at the Luis Alfonso Giagni stadium in Villa Elisa, Paraguay.
This result, achieved with a late goal from Maithe López, leaves Carlos Paniagua’s team with four points, placing them second in Group A and keeping their hopes alive for advancing to the next stage of the tournament.
The initial phase of the match was dominated by the Venezuelan team, which set the pace and created the most threatening opportunities early on. Goalkeeper Luisa Agudelo was crucial in neutralizing long-range shots and preventing any scoring in a one-on-one situation. Venezuela nearly scored at the 23rd minute from a free kick by Génesis Hernández, whose shot went just past the right post.

During this period, the Colombian squad played defensively, relying on the link-up between Mariana Silva and Maithe López to create threats against goalkeeper Rebanales.
Colombia’s clearest chance came from a cross-shot by López, assisted by Silva, which was deflected by the rival goalkeeper. Just before halftime, Silva headed a left flank cross, but Rebanales again came through.
In the minutes following the goal, Colombia maintained its lead with organized play and presence in the opposing half. The team displayed intelligence in managing their lead throughout the six minutes added by the referee, while Venezuela struggled to respond after a demanding first half.
Maithe recorded her fourth goal in Conmebol youth tournaments, with two of those goals coming against Venezuela: one now and another in April 2024. Luisa Agudelo, Colombia’s goalkeeper, was instrumental in keeping a clean sheet with seven saves, marking her best performance in South American youth competitions, surpassing her six interventions against Brazil in 2024.
