Cristiano Ronaldo prendió las alarmas a 100 días del Mundial 2026: su lesión es peor de lo esperado
Cristiano Ronaldo sparked concern in the football world after leaving the pitch during Al-Nassr’s match against Al-Feiha due to discomfort in his knee.
Initially, it was thought to be a minor muscular issue that would keep him out for a few days, but recent developments present a more discouraging outlook.

According to the first medical report released by the Saudi club, the forward reported problems with his hamstring and has begun his rehabilitation process. The player’s condition will be assessed daily, and the full extent of the injury has not yet been detailed.
The potential severity of the diagnosis could be heightened by Ronaldo’s medical history, as he has a chronic knee tendon injury dating back to the 2013/14 season, although the club did not specify if it involves the same leg. At 41, the Portuguese star remains active due to strict diets, training, and recovery routines, and since moving to Arabia, he has only accrued 26 days of absence.
During the press conference following the match against Al-Feiha, coach Jorge Jesús commented on the player’s substitution near the end of the game.
“He felt muscle fatigue. After we took the lead, I didn’t want to take risks and chose to replace him. The medical staff will evaluate him. But what he experienced was only muscle fatigue,” said the strategist preliminarily.
While the Saudi team continues to compete for the Saudi Pro League title alongside Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal, the club opted not to disclose details regarding the injury and only confirmed the diagnosis.
This has put the Portuguese national team and its coach Roberto Martínez in a precarious position, as the national squad has two scheduled preparatory matches against hosts Mexico and the United States on March 28 and 31. Given the health status of their main star and captain, his selection for the upcoming matches remains uncertain.
Amid escalating military tensions between the United States and Israel concerning Iran, and Iran’s response involving targets in allied territories like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, it was circulated on social media on the morning of March 3 that Cristiano Ronaldo had taken a private flight with his family to Madrid to avoid potential attacks. There were also claims that one of Iran’s drones struck near the Portuguese star’s residence, which allegedly led to his hasty return to Europe.
However, this information widely reported by international media was debunked by journalist Fabrizio Romano. According to the Italian journalist, reports suggesting the player fled the country to return to Europe were unfounded and did not accurately reflect the current situation of the player.
“Reports in international media about Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Saudi Arabia with his family are misleading. This is fake news, as Cristiano is currently training at Al Nassr’s training facility after the [physical] issues in the last match. Cristiano has not left Saudi Arabia to return to Madrid,” he wrote.
According to Romano’s official reports, Cristiano Ronaldo is presently undergoing medical treatment at Al Nassr’s facilities following the aforementioned physical discomfort he experienced.
