The impact of Yeison Jiménez’s passing on January 10, 2026, reverberated throughout the Colombian popular music scene, prompting not only public and private tributes but also reflections on his career path and future ambitions.

Among those recalling Jiménez was his music producer, Georgy Parra, who shared during a live video on his official Instagram account that the artist was preparing about three albums and was looking to reinvent himself. Parra noted that Jiménez had a crucial meeting pending with his team to outline releases and explore a new phase in his professional journey.

During that same transmission, Parra reminisced about Jiménez’s state of mind while recording the single Destino final, released in 2024 and created in collaboration with Luis Alfonso. He recalled the singer’s words during one of the sessions: “I needed to record a song like this. I feel like I won’t be around for long.” According to Parra, these comments took on a different meaning after the artist’s death, as they had previously spoken about mortality without realizing the gravity of the situation.

The recording process for the song, which has topped playlists in Colombia and beyond, was unique: both voices were recorded separately due to the busy schedules of the performers.

Throughout his narrative, Parra referenced Yeison Jiménez’s beginnings and highlighted contributions from figures like Jhon Alex Castaño, Rafael Mejía, Jhonny Rivera, and Jessi Uribe in the early stages of Jiménez’s career in the popular genre. The music producer also urged artists in the industry to overcome “envies” and focus on unity to preserve Jiménez’s legacy.

He added: “I would give anything for this phenomenon of ‘Destino final’, all the numbers it’s achieving, to not be happening. It’s currently ranked number one everywhere with “Destino final”. I wish things had been different; I wish he were here and “Destino final” had never been released.”

Throughout the broadcast, Georgy Parra spoke about the mental health struggles he faced during his years in the entertainment industry, also disclosing that he received professional help from a psychologist who also worked with Yeison Jiménez.

“I was surprised by the call from this psychologist because I had finished treatment with him a long time ago and hadn’t gone back. When he told me: “Georgie, I want to share something, and it’s that Yeison was very diligent with me.” I didn’t realize many things at the time. When I reflect back, because I didn’t remember, it turns out I was going through therapy and coming out of depression and everything else.”

After discovering they were both seeing the same mental health professional, the singer of Aventurero reached out to Parra to discuss personal issues.

“Yeison called me and talked about work. He said, “Cucho, buddy, I see you looking weird, Georgie.” So, I opened my heart and half-shared: “No, man, you know what? I’m on autopilot and going through a tough time in my life. Everything hit me all at once, I don’t know why, but… Well, I do know why, but I’m trying to get everything in order and seeking help,” the producer and friend recounted.

He went on to say: “Yeison came to me and said… I will tell you only superficially because some things are very private. Then he said: Georgie, you know what? I’m not okay. (pause of three seconds) Georgie, I’m not well. Buddy, you know what? I also need help. I was surprised at how he opened up with me and shared several personal things.”
